Shaugnessy Elementary
Hodgson, King & Marble Ltd. completed the large brick school in Vancouver’s newly-formed elite neighbourhood. On September 22, 1919, His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales, laid the foundation stone of the building, which would be known as Prince of Wales Elementary and High School. The school was renamed Shaughnessy Elementary in 1960 for Lord Thomas George Shaughnessy (1835-1923), president of the Canadian Pacific Railway.
